Usually parents have their babies baptized at a young age. confirmation is so that an older person, with greater understanding of their own beliefs, can confirm that they believe in God before witnesses. It also confirms the person as a member of that church.

Depends on what you mean by confirmation. If you meant the confirmation of people who have decided to become members of the church then it is to give people opportunity to declare publicly and before God that they'll serve him till they die in an oath.

There is nothing like that in the Bible. It shows departure from the Word of GOD. It is a man-made affair. It is useless. It is meaningless. It is a product of the ignorance respecting the Teaching and the Mission of Jesus Christ. It is valueless and it achieves nothing. It is not part of the work of Salvation.
