I have my prime rib in the oven right now and I just realized my thermometer is broken... Its 4 lbs...
What temp should my oven be at and how long should I cook it?

26-32min per lb for rare 34-38min per lb for medium, well done isn't in my vocabulary

I used to roast mine (18-20 lbs) at 375F for 15 minutes per pound. Then the oven would switch over to 325F for hours. Always came out rare-medium rare and I could finish the cuts off in a pan of au jus.

I don't know how that translates to home cooking and 4 lbs., but it's just a thought.

depends on the size of the prime? if it is say 10 or 15 pounds it takes about 1 1/2 hours for rare. if it is about 5 pounds say 45 min's for rare
