You need high capacity batteries, preferably rechargables. Try AA 2500, they suit my needs, get rechargables and a charger, always have a spare set with you.
Try batteriesonline for them cheaply.

Digital cameras can use a lot of battery juice. You can minimize use by not previewing pictures all the time, not using the flash as much, and by using the viewfinder instead of the screen, but you may want to invest in some rechargeable batteries for it. Buying and buying Duracells can get to be a costly affair.

Digital cameras drain batteries quickly. Get a charger and some good quality rechargeable batteries from a camera shop. You can buy high power camera specific non rechargeable types, but these are best used as a back up for rechargeables.

Battery life will depend on how it is used. If you take lots of shots with the flash or if it have a motorised zoom lens then the battery will run down quickly. Also don't keep switching it off, let the "sleep" mode put the camera into standby.
Get re-chargeable batteries and a charger to help with the cost

Rechargable batteries are definitely the way to go. Keep your duracells as spares.
