It's all about clubhead speed and accuracy...with club technology, a general swing will get you an average of 240 yards with a driver. Now if you swing harder and with more power you can add to that, but you also run the risk of being erratic.
The females are not as strong as males and get about 20 to 60 yards closer than the males. This goes back to prehistoric times, the hunters and the gatherers policy. The men hunt and the women gather....

It is not all about "swing and not power"! Who said that?
It requires an effective swing and power too.
The important thing is to produce the highest club-head speed at the point of impact with the ball while at the same time imparting the correct and desired spin (or lack of) upon the ball to ensure the ball follows the trajectory that is desired.
A beautiful swing on its own will only get you some of the way to success. If you cannot produce distance through power you will not gain a competitive advantage over those that have a beautiful swing and awesome distance.

many human beings say that golf is approximately your swing and that they are very astonishing. they say this because of the fact in case you have a foul swing you will no longer have the flexibility to hit the golf ball promptly yet whilst have a good swing you will hit the ball promptly the place you prefer extra circumstances than no longer. yet to hit the golf ball a approaches that takes muscle. a extra useful swing can help you hit the golf ball farther, yet no longer that plenty farther, yet on the different hand the quantity of muscle you have particularly areas such as you hands, legs and waist can help you earnings the area you prefer. what share women folk do you spot have somewhat some muscle. many of the time adult men are extra ideal than women folk so as that would mean that adult men can hit the golf ball farther that ladies folk to confirm that this reason women folk's tee are closer to the hollow.

Having a good swing is more about being consistent, able to hit good shots more often and; that even the less good shots are "good enough"
Distance, whatever you have heard,is dependent, to a certain degree,on the power that is created by overall bodily strength (that´s why the top male professionals "work out"). Therefore, however good a female`s swing is, she can never hit the ball as far as a man: who possesses an equally good technique!

First, women were not as proficient or competitive at sports at the time they started participating in golf,...for instance it was practically unheard of for women to be boxers, wrestlers, weight lifters, body builders, etc, so naturally, women tended to cultivate more "feminine" activities which did not include competing in sports with men; this goes in hand with a general use in the treatment given to ladies in polite society at that same time,...in other words courtesy, and golf has always been considered a gentleman´s game. Customs and sports have evolved, so I wouldn´t be surprised to see a change soon.

a few reasons
1 The power of the shot comes from your leg muscles, men generally have stronger legs.
Height is not a major factor, ask Ian woosnam.
2 Men more often have better hand eye coordination, better timing of shots.
3 Women have breasts that usually get in the way.
Combine all these and that's why Michelle Wei can't make the mens cut.

Their swing arcs are smaller; and golf is not all about swing. You've got it wrong. That's why ernie is so huge hitting very long, and Tigers keep pumping the weight. There're swinging games and power game (hitter). But of them required power though.

common misconception, golf is a game combining power and skill, the swing/ timing is the most important part yes, but part of the swing is getting the power to accurancy ratio just right so you hit it far and you hit it where you want.
does this clear that up?

Power is 10% of the game, accuracy is 95 :^)
But of 2 equally-accurate golfers, the one who equals the accuracy of the other but has an edge in power will obviously have the edge in the game.
And a shot that goes half the distance but center fairway is much better than the twice-as-long one which goes out-of-bounds
