Golf is timing and power

Many people say that golf is about your swing and they are very correct. They say this because if you have a bad swing you will not be able to hit the golf ball straight but if have a good swing you will hit the ball straight where you want more times than not. But to hit the golf ball far that takes muscle. A better swing can help you hit the golf ball farther, but not that much farther, but on the other hand the amount of muscle you have in certain areas like you arms, legs and waist can help you gain the distance you want. How many women do you see have lots of muscle. Most of the time men are stronger than women so that would mean that men can hit the golf ball farther that women so that is why women's tee are closer to the hole.

Hello flash

Thats only partly true. Of course with a smooth rythmetic swing one does generate some additional club head speed and makes better contact thus creating more distance on average.

But there is no doubt that todays game is more about power because of the length of the newer courses. Now power and strength are sort of useless if you are spraying the ball all over the course.

But make no mistake, power combined with a smooth swing will get you more distance every time.

Your premise is incorrect. The swing is important, but as your swing improves, so will your power (more correctly, your swing speed). The speed at which the club head meets the ball is the greatest factor in ball distance (there are many other factors as well, many having to do with the quality of the swing).

Most women cannot generate the club head speed that men do, primarily due to shorter club lengths and less upper body strength.

Golf *IS* about swing AND power.

The faster you get to and through the ball, the farther that ball will travel. The stronger you are, the more likely you are to advance the ball.

Most women lack the strength to hit the ball as far as men.
Women's tees are attempt to make playing against men on the same course more competitive.
