Drive straight down the M3 out of London onto the M27 and into the New Forest.
Find a little secluded hotel called "The String of Horses" at a little village called Sway.
More walking than you can shake a walking stick at. A hotel with four posters, jacuzzis etc and a top class restaurant. Loads of pubs in the forest with open fireplaces, real ale etc. Fresh air, horses, countryside, sea-side....................
All this an hour's drive away.
Go for it and enjoy.

Brighton - beaches, walks on the downs, totally different and yet close enough for a great weekend.
Or perhaps the Cotswolds - great for life at a slower pace. Wonderful village pubs and great restaurants. Choose a B&B instead of a hotel to get the most out of the area.
