The only reason im askikng if they are ok indoors is because the last two cats i had had a ferel mom that was found in a cardboard box by the person who gave them to us. We tried to keep them inside but all theyd do was cry so we let them out like sum ppl said already one of them was hurt outside and never came home(never found him) and the other hunted which was why we had to get rid of him :( (He would bring in rats ad let them go ALIVE and never catch themm again. just making sure that, that wont happen again

Absolutely indoor cat. ALL cats should be indoor cats. They live longer; outdoors they can be attacked by another animal, poisoned by a cat hater, run over, stolen, exposed to communicable disease, lost, and on and on and on.
As long as you have toys to keep the cat active and interact with him/her by cuddling and playing, they will be quit happy.
I have a maine coon who is 8yrs old; on rare occasions he will venture down the porch steps if I am not careful when the door is open, then he hides under the car and cries!!
You will find Maine coons a loving, gentle, very intelligent breed; not to mention their size!! DC (my cat) is the size of a small dog and weighs about 25 pounds! And very very verbal! Stubborn, bossy!!
I couldn't give you any idea of $$ since mine was given to me by my vet. A woman had taken him in becuz he had an abcess on his leg; she didn't want it treated and she didn't want the cat back--she wanted him put to sleep!! She was told where to go and what to do when she got there If you know what I mean. A few weeks later I took a kitty who was terminal with leukemia to the vet and left with DC. What a joy he has been!!
Such a big baby!! And the love of my life!!
Go to your favorite search engine and type in Maine Coon cats. You will find catteries all over the country. I'm sure the $$ will vary depending on pedigree. Also, check out the newspaper ads; look for a Maine Coon rescue group.
Good luck finding your new master!! And God Bless you!

Indoors. Spayed and/or neutered. Do not declaw. If you want papers you can expect to pay $500 plus. They are wonderful cats!

From a reputable breeder - about $500-600+ From a shelter where you can find a "look a like" Maine Coon - abut $125.

Maincoons do just fine indoors. They're better off and healthier staying inside.
You can rescue a kitten for about $100 dollars. If you want one from a breeder, they are more expensive. Anywhere from $500 to thousands of dollars.
I really recomend rescue. Look up the Maincoon rescue group in your area, they will have kittens come spring.
petfinder.com has lots of Maincoons that would love to come live with you.
