A friend of mine took his citizenship exam and it said that the Texas flag is the only flag that can be flown at full mast along with the U.S. flag. Only because Texas is a republic, not a state.

But one point I would like to mention, here in Texas we have a section in our constitution concerning the Texas flag, which is to be flown at the same height as the USA flag.
Used to annoy my wife to no end until I showed her the Texas consitution.

This is a matter of State vs Federal. According to the U.S. flag code article 175 section F, the Texas flag, or any other state/local flag can be flown at the same height as the United States flag, as long as it is neither higher nor to the right of Old Glory. That is the federal law. However, it is true, that in the TEXAS CONSTITUTION, the flag etiquette states that the Texas Flag be flown at the same height as the USA flag.

That is not true. Texas is as much of a state as the other 49 are. No flag can fly at full mast with the U.S. flag.

no, that is not true we have 50 states, hey maasachusetts penna, virginia are commonwealths, but still states
