i have condensed sweetened...recipe calls for evaporated.....

**if i did substitute can i just add regular milk to make up for using the sweetened condensed? OR how much regular milk do i use insetead of evaporated?

No, they are very different. Condensed sweetened milk is syrupy thick with sugar and/or corn syrup. Evaporated milk is not sweet; it's more like cream. They are not interchangeable in recipes.

Big difference -- sweetened condensed is thick and syrupy and tons of sugar; evaporated is just that: milk with some of the water evaporated from it. You could probably substitute light cream (half and half) or regular milk with added dry milk, but NOT sweetened condensed milk in your recipe.

They are not interchangeable so don't use the sweetened condensed for the evaporated. It is much thicker and has sugar in it while the evaporated milk is just thicker milk.

regular evaporated milk is not sweet, you might be able to substutite the evaporated milk and leave out the sugar in you recipe

Your pie will end up with more sugar and less milk than the recipe requires, but it probably won't hurt anyone.
