I wish to know if sickle cell desease has a cure yet and if so, how? I need urgent answers cos I'm in love with a lady that's AS genotype, and I'm SS genotype. Our families say we can't get married for this reason. What can we do?

You can get married, and then adopt a child. Former President Gerald Ford was adopted.

Don't let your ego be so large that you transfer an incurable disease onto your child; that's selfish, mean, and almost sociopathic.

not yet. And if the neo-cons interior the country have their say, there isn't quickly. Sickle cellular anemia is a bad genetic sickness between blacks named because of the fact the blood cells anticipate a crescent (or sickle) shape. the main promising scientific care on the horizon is perhaps to come back from stem cellular examine, that's strongly adversarial with the aid of many Republicans, particularly George W. Bush.

there's no cure for sickle cell anemia but there are medications that help stop the spread of it and make it grow at a slower rate then normal. In you situation I suggest visting a fertility doctor if you do plan to get married and want children. Just becuase someone was born with a type of illness does not make it that you can not get married to that person.
Good Luck!

There is no cure, only management.

Your families have no say in the matter. The decision to marry is between you and your lady. My professional advice is that if you are both serious about marriage, or likely to be, and are considering starting a family, see a genetic counselor.

Marriage doesn't necessarily mean having children and there is always adoption.

Hi there !
There is NO cure for Sickle cell anaemia !
You mean to say that "she is a carrier" and you a "sickle patient " ???
You should NOT get married to her at any cost, because, the chances of the siblings to be born as sickle again are high !as high as 50% for every pregnancy!
why take this big chance ? There is a 50% chance of every sibling born as "carrier" (AS) and 50% chances of the evry sibling to become a "sickle patient" (SS) !
I dont think its worth taking it !
Relax and "think about it" before making decisions !
best wishes !
