I heard the products dermatologist give you work better, because they know what type of skin you have. But my acne marks would be considered mild but I do have them and they really piss me of! Also have these 3 very tiny dents because of pimples. I really want to see a derm.

You don't even have to wait for your doctor to refer you. You could always ask friends/family for references, or if you really want to you can just call you doctor and ask for a good dermatologist over the phone (and save a visit!). Tell the dermatologist your issues, they are skilled to work on all types of skin, whether it is mild or severe acne.

Hey...
it depends how bad your acne is. I have it on my back and its really bad and i have seen a dermatologist about 6 times. You say you only have 3 tiny dents caused from pimples. This wouldnt be good enough for a doctor to refer you. derms are expensive and if you are on the nhs the docs will defo try to avoid any costs especially those that derms charge. If they are scars not alot can be done. the doctor cant help you with marks they can only help you with getting rid of the sores and spots. you will learn to live with it. much loves xxxx

If you explain how much you are affected by these marks, I think your GP will be sympathetic enough to refer you to a dermatologist. In the meantime, buy a bottle of Bio-Oil from your local pharmacy and see if it helps.

Honey, you can probably make the appointment yourself, unless your insurance specifically states that you must see your general practitioner first. The dermatologist will also sell their products to you without a visit. I agree, a specialist will have more knowledge. Godloveya.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
