You cannot answer this question in some absolute way, because different faiths will have different answers. Some will say it is all part of God's plan. Some will say that God doesn't work in such ways. Others will say that God doesn't interfere in human activities. Personally, although I love this country as much as anyone, I think that the question assumes that we are so important as a people and a country that God would interfere to help us, yet allow millions of people to die horrible early deaths elsewhere and to let billions elsewhere and in this country to live in extreme poverty. Not to belittle those who suffer and continue to suffer from 911, but how can 911 compare to the suffering of millions and billions in other countries.

Also, read the Book of Job, especially God's answer to Job's suffering in Job 38:1 through Job 42:6. Essentially God says Job has no right to question God as Job, and therefore all of humanity and you and me, cannot possibly understand God and his decisions. And we really are arrogant to assume that we can question and understand God. But we try.

Answer 1. God is like the scientist and we his little test in a jar. He just sits back and watches what happens.
Answer 2. There is no god.
Answer 3. God is supposed to know everything. How is that possible if there are free wills? If god knows everything, he will know exactly what you will do tomorrow. He will even know exactly what he will do tomorrow. If God didn't know these things, he would not know how you and he will use your immaterial souls to move around what you consider to be useless lumps of matter. In that case God would not know anything about the future of the Universe.

God can have many purposes in doing something, the one you suggest being not a likely reason

"...The Supremacy of God in All Things—No Exceptions
One of the truths of the Bible that we embrace with trembling joy is the truth of God’s supremacy in all things. The mission of our church is that we exist to spread a passion of the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ. When we say that, we do not mean: “except in calamities,” “except in war,” “except when Al Qaeda blows up a building or a train,” “except when cancer takes a mom or a child is born with profound disabilities.” There are no “except” clauses in our mission statement.

We did not formulate our mission in a rosy world—and then get surprised and embarrassed by the reality of suffering. We did not have our head in the sand. We formulated our mission in the real world of pain and suffering and evil and death. We have seen even among our own people, some very peaceful, but also some very terrible deaths. We exist to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things—all things—for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ—all the time. A passion for God’s supremacy—Christ’s supremacy (for he is God incarnate)—in all things, all the time. ..." go to the link for the rest of the sermon or to listen to it

God is an almighty God and a God of power and love. He never said that bad....even horrible things would not happen. He simply states that he will be with us through all of our bad times and trials. God stood by America and even though it was a tragic time and it was the cause of many families losing love ones...the untity of Americans was made into a stronger bond than it has been for a long time. A nation under God we are, and he has brought us through...as well as the families who lost precious love ones. God turns the bad and ugly into something good. It just took us a little while as Americans to see good come out of September 11th. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, and God Bless!!

There's no easy way anyone will know why God let 9/11 happen.

That's just God. If we had to know why, he would have already told us. In the meantime, all you can do is find out yourself, and hope you have the right answer.

God isn't limited to what laws the government has.

God does not interfere, He gives man free will. He will intervene on behalf of others. And we never know what God's will is for others. God is the orginator of freedom of religion. There is nothing new in this world. Be Free and Believe. Doni

God allows free will. If He took it away, then we'd all be good little robots. He wants us to come to Him of our own free will.

He doesn't interfere with our free will...for a reason. Sometimes, that's difficult for us to wrap our minds around but it's the truth.

One could argue that it would interfere with free will, but not freedom of religion.

god didnt interfer because he "designed" us(yea i know we cant really apply human atributes to god turning "it" into a being that we are trying to understand when in relation to this argument we cannot because we percieve "it" to be omnipotent, omnibelevenant and omnipresent) in the "design" of us, god gave us free will and in doing so distanced itself from us, as not to overwhelm our being and choice, this distance: the emipstemic distance: helps us to realise that by god interfering we would have become so in awe of him, it would have created a problem such as the one in hitch hikers guide to the glaxay, i think its the 2nd book, when he looks at himself in comparison with the universe and sees how futile he is in comparions.
that i beilive is why he did not interfer, not because of religiob, but because of free will and as not to destroy out minds by over empowering us with "its" presence

hope that helps answer a few of ur questions :)

Sorry to break this to you but God (or even Ghod) doesn't exist - neither does Santa, hence no superhero stlye intervention wa spossiable on that terriable day. Religion didn't feature in the attacks.
