There is no statutory entitlement to any bereavement leave. Most reasonable employers would give you as much as you need for a parent.

Its normally down to managers discression. But i would think for a parent it would be week too 2, for a nephew it would not count as many employers only do bereavement entitlement to immeditate family.

There is no federal law dictating bereavement leave. Most place have three days for father, direct blood relatives. As far as your nephew, most places say no.

its how you feel. Its not classed as holiday but bereavement leave. You should obtain doctors notes if you are off long term.. stress/anxiety/depression can lead to long term absence from work.

take care of youself.. time is a great healer...however people are never forgotte. Please remember there is always another job just around the corner. Take time for yourself and dont worry about work....

I do not know what country you are in.
In Canada you are allowed 3 days for a parent and sibling and the day of the burial service for any other relative. Of course this is dependant on your employers availability to let you. You can always fight them for it but you may find your job is on shakey grounds afterwards.

Most companies are most helpful at this difficult time, but only give on average 3 days leave.

The best way to get more time off for this is to visit your GP and be signed off.

When my mum died last year, I took 2 weeks off, and went back a few days after the funeral. But it might differ on where you work.
