New York is known for the Statue of liberty, the Empire State Building, the metropolitan museum of art, and the Brooklyn Bridge among others.

But I know New York has much more to offer. What can I see and do there that will make my stay in New York more memorable?

I was born and raised in NYC so I have some good insider tips. Plus I don't drink either so I might have a few good ideas. I would recommend Chinatown; it would definitely make your trip memorable. There are a lot of different restaurants to try out there and best of all, its dirt cheap. Little Italy is also great for good Italian food and knock offs of brand name stuff.

As for uptown, places like Central Park, Rockefeller Center, St. Patricks Cathedral is also a sight to see. Best of all, its free to visit these places. They're around the same area so you can see them all pretty much in one day.

If you're up for exploring, you can't go wrong walking on Broadway or 5th Avenue. There are lots of stores on both, along with historical buildings with interesting architecture.

A site that might help you is: http://cityguide.aol.com/newyork
It has maps, reviews, and ticket information. So good luck and hope you have fun!

There's a Medieval castle in New York, the Cloisters, around 193 Street, and each borough has a botanic garden.

For an alternative view you can now go to the top of the GE Building, which has probably the best view ever of New York, it's lower down so you feel more like you're still in the city, rather than floating high above it.

You can take the Roosevelt Island Tram at night, it's the one seen in Spiderman. (it broke down once with pssngrs stranded for hours..)

Walk around a bit in No/SoHO/East/West/Middle/Southern Homosexual Low Upper East West Middle Side Park Madison Bryant Union Times Square Macy's Fifth Avenue Metropolitopolis Village (yes, everything's nice)

American Museum of Natural History is across Central Park from the Met.

The Museum of TV and Radio has every TV program ever made..

The Circle Line Ferry goes around Manhattan..

Really just walk around and you'll find something.

For a totally new and unique way to see New York City try a walking tour from SoundWalk. Armed with a portable CD player, headset and map you will go on a true urban adventure. Soundwalk’s 3D surround sound CD audio recordings guide you as you traverse places like Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, the Lower Eastside, Chinatown, Times Square or the Bronx. Get a taste of the Big Apple that few other tourists ever experience.

Greenwich Village is the place to go drinking. Lots of famous pubs that celebrities go to. Some musicians got their start there. It's the artsy part of town. It's near the city college around Ave. of the Americas and 9th St.

You should go on a double-deck bus tour.

If you ride by a taxi, research the location of the attraction (e.g. 43rd and 5th), because if you just name the attraction, the cab driver will assume that you don't know the area, and may take a longer (and costlier) route. If you make it sound like you know the area, the drive may take a quick (and cheap) route.
