My dog is smart and trained, but he's tempermental. He bit someone today, so now i need to get rid of him. How can I go about donating him to the NYPD as a police dog, or a seeing eye dog?

Is your dog neutered?
Get him neutered...it may be contributing to the aggression.
Find a behaviorist to find out the cause of the aggression.

He is not a good seeing eye dog/therapy dog candidate, as he has already bitten.

Keep in mind, that in many places if you give a dog to someone else, knowing that he has already bitten, you can be held liable if he bites someone in the future.

You can visit my website at http://www.libertydogtraining.com and do an email consultation with me, and we may be able to find the root of the problem and do some behavior modification that will allow you to keep your dog.

If you give him up, be very aware that he will most likely get the "death penalty."

If your dog has temperment issues, I doubt any of these organizations would be interested in the dog. Don't want an aggressive assistance dog or a Police dog that has a temper and can't be controlled.

I'd say find a home for your dog where the people have the time and are willing to take the dog in for behavioral training to conquer this issue.

Sorry, both police departments and seeing eye schools only use dogs that have VERY stable temperaments. Neither of them will want a dog that's temperamental.

ask your local veterinay or google it. Sometimes the ASPCA can help. Normally if he is temperamental they are not for NYPD o Seeing eyes dogs.

Ya, I am sure they will be ever so eager to get their hands on your aggressive dog!

They want dogs with stable temperments that are often bred specifically for that purpose.
