Let me expand on this a bit...
One of the primary concerns of mine is health insurance for me and my family. I work for a newspaper that is part of a large corporation. Because of their group buying power I get affordable health care. Of course it keeps going up (deductables and co-pays) but i don't fear the possibility of major medical bills. I have thought many times about freelancing full time but the medical keeps me in the newspaper biz. Of course I have friends that have made the jump but they have spouses that have good health care coverage.
This is a major point to consider. If you are young and healthy you can probably dodge the health care bullet for several years. But there will come a time that health care is just about mandatory (for me it was two kids).
A freelancer is pretty much on his/her own. Of course there is a lot of freedom in being your own boss but there are risks that can be bank account breakers with a simple fall or car accident.
Good luck

I believe that depends on what company you work for. Some companies allow full benefits, meaning medical and dental. While others just do co-pay and you have to make payments when visiting physicians. If you're a freelance photographer you have to foot the bill yourself.

Photogs in various of circumstances do not get any reward till they're a crew photographer employed finished-time by a huge business corporation or company which includes a newspaper, college, corporation, and so on. it will be attainable to get reward even as employed by a image studio, yet those artwork places are in various of circumstances very small and do not provide a lot, if any, contained in the way of reward. The commerce-off for procuring those reward is that we do not personal any of the artwork we produce even as "on the clock". those those who do artwork finished-time fall lower than what's called "artwork-for-employ", which signifies that our employers can, and in various of circumstances do, declare copyright possession. if you're operating freelance, it really is attainable to sign up for a set health coverage plan for small corporation proprietors at truly functional costs, yet ignore retirement, vacation, and so on. For that, you'd be on your human being.
