It's a difficult one, can you suggest another way of communicating the same sentiment that would not upset anybody?

If you tell the truth about something and it offends someone it is not your fault. If someone chooses to take offense to the truth they have the problem.

It's a matter of approach. "Crap" is an ugly word. All you have to do is tell the truth about the book: i.e., that on its own merits it's a hodge-podge of cruelty, backwardness, and incoherence - obviously the product of primitive tribal scribes. And not once did I say "crap."

By the way, there is no moral mandate to respect an ideology. To paraphrase the biblicists, love the believer, cream the belief.

If you go down in the cellar and say it where no one can hear you, then you won't offend anybody. I want all Baptists to use that method when preaching.

Point out the errors you can find in the Bible and try and stump us Christians.

Well don't say it in that way. You could start by keeping your opinion on these matters to yourself around people who are very religous because you're basically making fun of how dump they are for believeing in "crap".

God is the only one you should be concerned with offending and I think he already knows what you think.

Why worry about offending-if you believe it state it and let the Christians challenge your viewpoint with valid arguments if they can.
