I play competitive raquetball 4 times a week. I am 6' tall and weigh 215 pounds. On days i play raquetball i drink between 140-180 ounces of water at work since i play at night. On days i don't play i drink 120 ounces of water a day. I need to take a pre-employment drug test on the day i have a competitive match. I do not use illegal drugs but someone told me that drinking this much water will cause me to fail the test since the lab will think i added water to my urine sample and the creatinine levels will be to low in my urine. Can someone please verify if my normal water consumption will cause me to fail?

You don't fail per se, but it can come back inconclusive and you'll have to repeat the test.

The presence of Drugs is what makes you fail. Unless you have cocaine in your water supply, just take the test again and don't worry about it.

I don't believe drinking water will make that much difference, as long as you are not taking drugs with the water. By the same token, if you are taking drugs, drinking water will not completely flush them out, so it is not an effective way to "cheat". Most people do not drink enough fluids.

I have heard something about drinking to much water diluting urine and looking suspicious to drug labratories. I would recommend contacting the place where you will have the test done and talk to them. They can probably do something. OR they might recommend not drinking so much.

You might talk to a Dr. about how much water you are drinking, sometimes drinking to much water can be dangerous to your body.

Good Luck

Absolutely. It is VERY possible that you will fail due to an overdilluted urine sample. The agency counts this as a failure and your test comes back positive.

I doubt it, but now that we are talking about drugs, beware of this type of candy which consumption is prohibited if you work for the government.

Unless the water that you are drinking is laced with LSD or meth you should be fine.

thats a rediculous question that hardly deserves a sensible answer, but if you insist,no, no , and more no, does that cover it( choose your advisers with more care.)
