It seems like one of the key points creationists (people who believe that God instantly created humans instead of gradually through evolution) use in their mostly unconvincing arguments is that "I can't believe that we are evolved from lowly monkeys" and things similar to that.

Well, what's wrong with a monkey? Personally I like them. And it's pretty obvious that I'm an animal. There's no doubt that I share the same basic functions as other animals.

What's the point of looking with disgust down on something as innocent as a monkey?

I do not necessarily think creationists look down on animals. It's just that God created animals and he created humans. I believe in evolution in the sense that things have evolved over time to better suit themselves, but I do not believe that humans were evolved from monkeys. I understand how the argument was formed and I know everyone has their opinions, but I believe we were created seperately from monkeys. I tell you what, though, I love monkeys, too. They are so cute and if I could have any animal it would totally be a monkey...or a penguin. I think it's illegal for me to have either one, though. :)

I agree. They believe we are the smartest creatures ever. We are not. They say that monkeys and other animals are not as smart as us. Huh, how come most of these animals have survived for millions of years longer than humans have been around? I have seen monkeys that are smarter than some people i have met. The people whom you are talking are most self-righteous hypocrites.

If god created man, and everything else too, why did he create animals. Doesn't it seem kinda silly?

While monkeys may be cute when they are not throwing their own feces around, we are higher than the animals, thats why Adam was in charge over them. Gods greatest creation was man, because we are made in his image, not in the image of an Ape. God gave us a soul, and a hope to live on in heaven, animals dont get that. We dont love animals any less than you, we just know there place, and thats never to be above a human. I have always had cats and dogs in my life, and I continually write about my love for them in poetry and song, but society has had an outcry for a monkey or whale, and no tears shed over the murder of innocent unborn babies! People that get an unhealthy view or relationship to animals I view as mentally unstable.

I totally agree.
The whole anthropocentricism of religion is just wrong. We are barely different from other animals, just more capable of rational thought. The amount of sacrifices in the Old Testament disgusts me.
And what makes people think that God would love us more than other animals? No good reason.
Also - animals must be very enlightened - they're always in the present moment, and can concentrate on feeling so much.

It's not that I look down on a monkey just that a monkey cannot become me. He is perfect in what he is a monkey and I am a man. I cannot believe evolution because there is no proof of it, evolutionist have to believe in what they teach because they cannot prove it conclusively just like I believe in God.

Bible literalists stick to the line that they're made in God's image. Since visibly we strongly resemble the ape family, this suggests that God belongs in there somewhere as well. Perhaps this explains our President's saviour complex.

Ecclesiastes 3:18-19
18 I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath [a] ; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless.

You think monkeys are innocent? I'm sure monkeys commit all sorts of crimes, and we just don't know about it, cause we're preoccupied with our own crimes.

As far as creationists are concerned, who cares.
