All the answers until now have mentioned the soap, shower gel, shampoo, but no one mentioned the water.
have a look to the shower head as the lime scale accumulates in it and can provoke itchiness.
and the worst case scenario you also can get legionaries disease "small microbes that bread on your shower Head".

My daughter gets hives after she showers. She uses the gentlest soaps. I have wondered if isn't the chlorine in the city water system.. She didn't have this problem when she lived at home, where we have our own well.
If it doesn't occur in the bath, it is unlikely to be the water. I don't know what kind of skin type you have, but you could try making some skin oil out of olive oil with peppermint essential oil. Or try some other oil that is appealing to you. I think that the mint is cooling and if it feels like prickly heat, maybe that would help.
Otherwise, have you tried taking one Benedryl capsule first?
That should prevent an allergic reaction.

Join the club. wether I have a bath or shower I used to get that but now ive found a great way to ease the itching if not altogether. Buy some Bath-Milk or even better use half a pint of full fat milk in your bath. It removes the hardness from the water which can cause irritation. An added bonus using normal milk is it soffens your skin too. You can also use Oilatum which is designed for skin problems, works good with any skin irriation. Try and avoid a shower

You are probably having an allergic reaction to some of the strong chemicals in your soap/shampoo/conditioner. I get that too.
First you need a good mild soap, I find that Dove soap and Simple soap are good. I actually use a soap from the health shop, all it has in it is vegetable glycerine and essential oils in it, it's very good. The brand is called Faith in Nature and you can get it online
When you wash your hair, the suds roll straight down your body and need to be rinsed off really well. It would be a good idea to rinse your hair upside down so none of it gets on your skin. I also have shampoo and conditioner from the health soap, it has all natural ingredients in it, but it's not quite as good as normal stuff. The brand is Weleda and you can get it online also.

Hi, it sounds like either sensitive skin or reaction to something, it depends on how it looks, and its difficult to diagnose without seeing. if it looks like prickly heat, its more like allergic reaction, if it is more like one piece of skin feels rough and darker then it sounds like dry skin. in any case, stop using your shower gel or the soap that you are using, and switch to use Aqueous cream instead of showr gel or bath foam. you can buy it in most pharmacies and its very cheap for a tub of 500g. use it instaed of soap and as a mosituriser for few days and see how it goes. then you can also use oilatum bath oil in the bath. if you find it gets worse then you might want to see the dr. you will be probebly the best person to analyse whats causing it, look at what type of shower gel your using, washing powder that you use for clothing, also the puff that you use in the shower, its important to change it at least every 6 months as it carrys all of your bacteria that lives on your skin. analyse everything and see what has changed, this will help you to find out whats causing it.

Try not to use a shower gel or soap every time you have a shower. Use a good moisterizer or oil after your bath to seal in the moisture. I found Bio-oil in the local pharmacy and it seems to be very good on my skin (face and body). (I am not marketing Bio-oil and I don't get a penny of commission from them. The recommendation is from a genuine user!)

This has happened to me too and sometimes it is due to the water being very hot and the temperature change on your skin when you leave the shower. Try using lotion right after showering, use one with no fragrance or color, there are plenty specially formulated for sensitive skin. and use water that isn't very hot.
Also see a dermatologist if you see redness or swelling, and try not to scratch since your skin is a lot more sensitive after the shower and you could hurt yourself.

Try a moisturizing lotion and one can also buy some solution that you can put in your bath water to eliminate this problem. A doctor can prescribed something for this too. Taking lots of showers and not bathing can sometimes cause this problem as well.

Try Aveeno bodywash its made with Collidal oatmeal and lavender to calm, sooth and nurture.
They also have the body lotion to lock in moisture after your shower. Most regular soaps and shower gels are not PH balanced, very high detergent factor and super hard on your skin, Aveeno is awesome....good luck
