Hmm... Whatever, I'm veggie and I'm having a veery special Christmas Dinner. Plus, even when I wasn't veggie, I used to have chicken because, honestly, it tastes better. Turkey is just a bit gross. Don't assume they're poor just because they eat meat that comes in smaller sizes. Have a fab time everyone (especially you vegetarians lol!) xxxxx Oh and everyone feel more sorry for the birds who are fattened up and never see daylight so they can sit on a plate on your table and be feasted on. At lease be free range and organic!!

But seriously, that's the point of vegetarianism. If you feel bad for the turkeys, what about the chickens? The cows? The lambs? Pigs? The catfish? Salmon? Herring? The egg that would have been a chicken? Deer? Quail? So on and so forth?
You either learn to not worry about that, thinking of the animal as food (we're blessed enough not to have to kill our own meals, with the great supermarket just down the street, so we need not see the faces of the animals). Or you can go vegan and refuse to eat anything that you'd feel sorry for if you had to kill it yourself. Or you can eat it and feel sick afterwards, that's up to you.
As for me, I chose to ignore it. If I had to catch, kill, and clean my food before I cooked and ate it, then I'd probably be a vegatarian. However, I can get it pre-caught, killed, and cleaned at the store. So, I'm fine. And turkey tastes good, so I'm eating it. That's that.

My question to myself is always: "if I had to kill this animal or set if free, what would I do?". This led me to be a pragmatic vegetarian. For animals like turkeys, pigs, cows, etc I would always prefer to have them roaming the woods than kill it for my enjoyment. For fish it is mostly the same, I'm a catch and release kind of guy, and really worried about overfishing. For somethings like shrimp, scallops, or eggs I do allow myself the choice to eat them if it suits me at the time.

Eating a turkey, like eating any commercially farmed animal, is absolutely reprehensible. Those who choose to turn their back on these animals, ignoring their suffering when it's so easy to make a difference, are beyond pathetic.

I think we should eat meat only when really needed... We DO need meat, and though our body can function without it it is good for us to have meat, but I agree that for instance we shouldn't feel forced to follow the Thanksgiving tradition of eating turkey. But always remember, everybody - humans ARE animals, after all. Just imagine you're a bear, and you've just eaten a human. You COULD have survived without it, because you can eat roots and berries - but that human seemed sooo delicious!

Hell yes turkey revolt thats the answer but first the would have to first stop killing eachother in the pens or drowing when trying to drink rain. Huh maybe it is better we eat them .

I am vegetarian, and have been my whole life, so no Turkey for us, and yes, it is pretty sad that so many people...eat so many Turkeys in one day:)

Think, if we all went vegitarian, or PETA members what would happen to all of the animals we once ate? They would over take us... there would be so many that there wouldnt be any care for them, noone to take care of them, and eventually nothing for them to eat? So no, i dont feel bad for terminal animals(animals raised for meat) Its just life
