I don't have a child but my grandma babysat this really annoying brat. Hes four and I hated it! Don't think he's all innocent either. One time he hit his kid brother when I was there visiting my grandma and then the little boy started crying. He blames things like broken toys and messes on his little brother, who's two years old. He ran around the house when my grandmother was not looking, even after the fact that she told him repeatedly not to. He doesn't listen. Their mom doesn't care cuz she's poor, or my grandma felt sorry for her cuz she's one of our relative's good friends.

So anyway, when do they overcome this stage? (please don't comment about my feelings toward this child).

This is more of a range from 4-7 year olds. Usually when the kids are in preschool to about 2nd grade. If your grandmother knows that this kid is a terror, and not the little brother being blamed for it, she needs to take charge if she hasn't already. She needs to punish him like time out's and what not. Or take things away from him. Good luck!

The sooner your grandmother puts a stop to it the sooner it will stop... The child only continues with the stories and running wild because a stop hasn't been put on it...
As for your feelings, maybe visiting your grandmother when this particular child isn't present would be a good idea then you don't have to see the behavior you don't like to see your grandmother... You would then be alot less stressed about it and your visits with your grandmother would not be marred by the presents of this child...

I put an elmo doll in my preschool room. When the kids start with that annoying Im Telling they are then told to tell Elmo. The only time they are allowed to tell is if someone is bleeding or in danger. Of course if someone is bleeding I will know but this helps them see the seriousness of it. They will actually go pick up Elmo and tell him. Eventually they will just outgrow it because they aren't getting anything back from it.

they will get out of the I'm telling stage at 6 or 7 and u cant just tUrn ur back on a four year old and if u are handling kids you need to make sure there are safety gates and all doors are LOCKED. Also to get him out of the whole 'blaming my brother" deal You could say to him.
You wont get dessert unless you tell me the truth or No toys unless you tell me who really did it.
you could also say
u will get in more trouble if u lie to me

Some don't..and just because their mother is poor doesn't make her a bad mother. It does make you an extremely judgemental child...probably spoiled yourself.

i would think they get out off it when they relize over and over that by telling on someone so will get in trouble it wont work. so just let them relize that your not going to do anything about it. then theyll stop cause it has no effect.
