In the past countries at war were usually neighbors physically. Their interests collided more easily than that of others halfway around the world. Now with the world made smaller by rapid transportation and communication, everyone can see what the other people have and want that. Leaders of the Have nots know that if they cant give their people what they want eventually they will be out of power. I mean religeous, and secular leaders. In order to distract their people from their own incompetence or corruption, they shift the blame over to other countries such as the advanced western nations rather than distributing the resources that they have amoung the population. It is always easier to sell taking what you want rather than earning it. So wars and rumors of wars past present and future will always be with us.

Throughout history, every country and different party has always wanted power and control. When disagreements arise and there are no right resolutions; then I suppose some believe there is no other recourse than to fight what you believe in; even though it could be at the cost of 100's and 100's of lives.
