Chewing gum while speaking publicly isn't such a good idea. You see, while speaking or prnouncing a certain word, the gum will come flying out and you'll embarrass yourself.

Absolutely not! You also shouldn't chew gum at work. Especially if your on the phone all day. It's rude and disrespectful.

Ugh, absolutely not. It's disrespectful and distracting. One should no more chew gum while giving a speech than play with a yo-yo while doing open-heart surgery.

It is never ok to chew gum. It is like eating in front of people that never gets done.

i don't think it's appropriate. So no, i would say you shouldn't do it because it definitely isn't great for a student or a member of the audience to see you popping gum in front of them while they're trying to listen to what you've got to say. Not only is it distracting, but it's also rude.

No.
First of all, it's distracting
Second, it impairs your ability to speak clearly.
Both of these show disrespect for your audience/students, and therefore, chewing gum while speaking should be avoided.

LOL!!! Just a mental picture of it is funny.

It's up to the individual if they can do it discreetly. However, it would be awful to be giving a speech and have the gum be sucked down your windpipe and folks watch you struggle to find a way to choke gracefully.

No, it is disgusting! Throw it away and talk with no objects of some source in your mouth! Don't snap gum in public either.

No...because it might fly out and hit those poor children/pensioners sitting in front of you on the head.
