When one meditates, one clears his/her mind of all thoughts, all images; thus allowing the body and mind to rejuvenate and rest. Sometimes the state of meditation can be so relaxing that one actually falls asleep. I believe that there are a few "schools" of thought on how to accomplish this state. One quite familiar to me is Transcendental Meditation, which you can find classes for by looking through your telephone directory/internet. The idea here is that you are given a word to concentrate on, which you repeat to yourself in silence, in order to focus yourself away from thoughts and images. Training consists of approximately 5 classes and then practicing on your own. The origins of this method come from India.

OMG.. That is so right! I meditate a couple of minutes a day. It makes me relax and it makes me happier.. It is really good.. Doing meditation a lot will make you want to do more and more and you will feel better, healthier and stressfree for a while, so yes it is kind of a cure. I meditate about fifteen minutes a day to thirty minutes a day, it is really good.. You should try it out for some time. What i do when i meditate is think about the day, how my day was, the solutions to my problems and i look at the future.. You can imagine a lot of crazy stuff. I dont do that but i just have the same thoughts in my head over and over again.

Meditation doesn't work for everyone and it's not the supreme answer to stress. It can be very relaxing for those that can do it though. Sit in a comfortable position that you can hold for as long as you want to meditate. You can either try to clear your mind of all thoughts, think about a place that is yours alone, or personally I think about the time I was happiest.

Exercise is also a great stress reliever!

Hi there !
A beautiful question...!!
In meditation, if you attend the classes seriously, you will understand...!
YOU dont think about anything....
First they teach you the art of concentration !
You start concentarting on yourself...then afterwards, over a period of time, (dont expect it to happen in 1 or 2 days )
They tell you to start concentrating on your hands first, then feet, then breath, etc etc..in the order !!
Over a period of time, you will gain the power to concentrate !
How to do it...you will NOT learn by "reading" or "listening to cassetes or CDs" !
Once you master this art of meditation, you can go into the "stage of meditation" fast and get "feeling of relaxation" and "light body feeling "
Attend a course ..!
Learn it from somebody genuine !
I can assure you something..."It works"......
and "it helps" ....!
best wishes !

Anything peaceful or calming. If going to the beach is a favorite place, imagine arriving at the beach, the sounds, smells, feel of the sand on your feet. Anything goes with meditation, as long as it makes you relax.

Medications can sometimes make stress worse depending on if it works for you and what else you are consuming with it. So when you meditate think on things of goodness and try to dream big of what you desire in life. One meditate in quietness and dwelling on those things of the heart upon relazation.

Your unconcious mind is your best friend and your smartest and fastest and best computer. Tune into it when you meditate, imagine that your real self is below your level of consciousness and just let it bubble up to fill your mind.

It depends there are many ways. Some are more pure, others less.
