The first 3 were written only a few years after Jesus went to Heaven, and two seem to take alot of info from the first.
John wrote about 50 years later, and he was addressing a different group of people many who were all ready believers, but errors were being introduced, such as that Jesus was not human and God at the same time. So he wrote to correct these errors.

The short answer can be found at Wikipedia:
Like the three synoptic gospels, it contains an account of some of the actions and sayings of Jesus, but differs from them in ethos and theological emphases.

each and every of the gospel writers has a diverse project of their presentation of the tale of Jesus' existence. John's considerable project is to no longer recount the lifestory of Jesus, yet to declare that the "be conscious" (or the "trademarks": the divine, inventive theory by which the universe is ordered) became "flesh" and dwelt between us. John supplies no parables, yet extremely promises long discourses no longer modern-day in the different gospels, which permit the hearer to meditate upon the actuality being offered. John particularly needs us to understand that once the trademarks will become guy, it would go through and finally die; we would desire to understand that the be conscious isn't human understanding, that's sacrificial, self-giving Love. Peace to you.

There certainly is a different atmosphere about John's gospel, isn't there?
don't know why God arranged it so, but i thank God for the gospel of John!! How enriched we are to have all the chapters, chapters like His longest recorded discourse in Chap.14-17 available to us! They are life- giving!!

In those cases I think it works in a sense that it would be the Gospel according to John. It would be his interpretation of it. At least that's the way I usually here them mentioned in church; the Gospel according to so and so.

The gospels are different because they each have a different aspect of the Christian faith to focus on. Together, they comprise a 4 dimensional perspective on the faith.

If you get 4 people that witnessed a car crash, you would get 4 slightly different accounts. They would be somewhat the same, but maybe someone is a detail person and another is a highlights person.

GREAT QUESTION! TO ME, NOT THE ANSWER YOUR LOOKING FOR, WHEN JOHN COMES TO MIND, I THINK OF JOHN 14:12-14 AND 15:7 . THE LATTER VERSE SUMS UP BEST; "IF YE ABIDE IN ME, AND MY WORKS ABIDE IN YOU, YE SHALL ASK WHAT YE WILL, AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU". WOW!!! THAT'S MOTIVATION! BUT THE VERSE THAT I QUOTE MOST FREQUENTLY IS 12:43 ; FOR THEY LOVED THE PRAISE OF MEN MORE THAN THE PRAISE OF GOD. TODAY, IN OUR WORLD, THAT SUMS UP SOCIETY. THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS. IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS. PHIL 2:10 ARE YOU READY? SEE LUKE 21:36
GOD BLESS YOU
