Tell him that you promise that you will be a resonsible person and will not lose it or run up the phone bill. Tell him that you think you are old enough for him to trust you for who are are if you are. If you study hard and get good grades, tell him that. Tell him about the good things that you always do to prove that you are responsible. Tell him that cell phones are a good way to keep in touch in case of emergencies. For instance, if you get lost while going to the mall with him, you can call him. Tell him that 13 is not a young age to have a cell phone. Tell him that age doesn't matter, maturity does.

ok teens, money doens't grow on trees,
There's not much of a reason for a 13 yo to have a cell phone, but if you are determined, than you should come up with a plan where you will do the right amount of work to pay for the expense of having a cell phone. Now, mine costs me about $50/month if I don't talk too much. So your dad is smart about wanting a good reason before he throws his money in the garbage. Or you can make it not cost any money for him.

Tell him if you have the phone on, he can reach you anytime, anywhere - that means a lot to a parent. Also if it is a matter of money, he can get you a Tracfone for about $20 with prepaid minutes on it and if you go thru your minutes then he can decide to get more minutes or not - so he has a lot of control over the situation.

tell him its to call friends and for emergencies, those r good but not good enough...tell him that for kids and teenagers, a cell phone doenst have the same uses that adlts use it as. adults use it as for calling and for work, now kids and teens use it to showoff, and as a toy. teens and kids also want to feel more responsible and show that their parents trust them so they give them a phone. tell ur dad that u want this awasome toy and then tell him to guess wat it is, then u tell him. he'll think of it from a whole different point of view. good luck!!!

actually this is suprisingly easier than youd think. you see in modern times we need these things. mostly for contacting parents in situations like for example if your in a town and you need to call your dad to ask maybe where something is in the town or how much something is or to tell him when to pick you up. mostly for calling your parents is a good excuse. and actually a pretty valid one too.

Well tell him to get you a prepaid cellphone, that way you wont abuse the cellphone in terms of minutes and its a great way to contact you in case anything happens.
