I have a Specialized floor pump which I use for my bicycle.

I am not so sure that they are totally accurate, but when I checked mine against a hand held tire gauge, it was pretty close. Either way, at least in my case, gauges are still very helpful. I much rather have a gauge that is giving me approximate information than no gauge at all.

Most dial gauges give approximate readings. A bicycle pump is not a precision instrument. You can compare its readings with those from different pumps or gauges and estimate how high or how low it reads.
