Hey Natasha, I think the majority rules, let them sleep with you. I have to upgrade to a king size bed so my alaskan malamute can sleep with us along with my german short haired pointer. Sleep well!

Depends on the dog. My dog sleeps on the floor beside the bed. It's his choice. Some dogs that may have separation anxiety shouldn't be allowed to sleep in the bed because you are perpetuating their anxiety. Also, I don't like rude dogs that sleep in the middle of the bed or try to kick you off the bed while you are sleeping.

The training answer is that pets should never be allowed on furniture of any kind. The nicest places in the den are reserved for the Alpha. Allowing your dog to share your Alpha zones is an invitation for your dog to challenge your authority.
Ok, now that the official right answer is there, I'll tell you I break the rule all the time. My Chi likes to sleep under the covers, and at 5lbs, she takes up little space. My terrier is restless so I usually crate her at night (plus she has seperation anxiety so she must spend time on her own).

My dog sleeps in a pen in her own bed. I think it is a bad habit for dogs to get into to sleep in the owners bed. Her pen is right next to my bed she can still see me. She is only 4 months old but I plan to keep her sleeping in her pen even though she is trained.

Yes, my dog is ALLOWED to sleep in my bed, even though he's a bed hog. It's nice having him there.
It's up to you as to whether or not your dog can sleep in your bed. If you don't mind him/her being there, then, why not? If it bothers you, then don't let him/her get up there. It's your bed and it's your dog, so whatever you're comfortable with is fine. It's that simple.

I stay in Australia too. I actually have a puppy staffy that sleeps on the foot of my mattress, if she hears any noises she will be able to get up and look into, if there is someone contained in the backyard she will be able to bark and wake me up. She thinks she is my protector or perhaps although I actually have continually dealt with her as a puppy she acts like a take care of canines. It relies upon on the human beings, some human beings see dogs as grimy animals and others see them as element of the family contributors. there is no longer something incorrect with a canines slumbering on your mattress so long because it really is sparkling and correctly groomed. although i do not believe letting a canines lower than the covers yet i have no longer something hostile to each person who does, purely my opinion and that i comprehend many human beings that enable there canines sleep on there mattress.

My dogs also sleep in bed with me. It only becomes a problem if your dog has dominance issues. In most cases, I'd say its fine!

I don't care if people think it's gross or not. I love that my dog sleeps with me in my bed. He keeps my feet warm at night.
