Angel hunt, I am aware of the fact the trail of tears came much later than the first thanksgiving, but if it was a positive event for Native Americans, where are they, when was the last time you ran into one on the street? Why do they live on reservations and we control their land.

This is one of those holidays that seems to tear my families (my fathers side and my mothers side) apart. My father is Cherokee and my mother is *mostly* Welsh. Many of the Christians in her family talk about how wonderful the 1st Thanksgiving was, while my fathers family talk about the murder that happened.
Pearly Gator, please read up. Or watch the History Channel. The truth is out on this one... be thankful, for whatever it is you think you should be thankful for... but at least be honest about it.

The members of the Plymouth colony had nothing to do withn the Trail of Tears, killed nobody and got along just fine with their neighbors. The feast that came to be known as Thanksgiving was a positive event for BOTH sides. Your ignorance of history is astounding!

Hey, we paid $20 and some dandy trinkets for that Island. Taking inflation into account!
And they got even with their Tax Free Smokes, Booze and Casinos!
They also got even with the Tobacco Leaf!

Yes, I know a great deal about History and I know you can't change what has happened. You can only change what will happen. Focus your anger on that and try to make things better for your fellow Creature rather than dwelling on hatred. Bless you my child.

I actually don't celebrate Thanksgiving, as I see it as a barbaric and hypocritical "holiday".
And the pilgrims DID have dinner with the Indians, and they took advantage of the hospitality of the Native Americans until they learned all they needed to learn. Then they killed them all, those white bastards.

no, as Turtle Island was invaded and taken over by the Europeans who kept only one treaty with THE PEOPLE -- we see your land -- we want it -- we'll take it -- and they did.

That is so sad. Religion imposes so many stupid ideas on free people to enslave them. Then we physically murder them.
