Not fluid ounces, ounces for chocolate.

One cup of chips should be 6 ounces. If you mean melted chocolate or powdered cocoa, that will be something different. (Edit--for the heck of it, I checked: a cup of melted chocolate is 10 ounces. It's different from chips because it fills the cup completely, with no air space)

From the way you phrased your question, I assume you already know that all the above answers are wrong, as they confuse liquid ounces (8 oz to a cup) with weight. Obviously weight in ounces will vary--a cup of feathers doesn't weigh the same as a cup of lead.

There are no cups in ounces. It takes 8 ounces to make 1 cup, solid or liquid. So, if you have solid chocolate, you need 8 ounces of it to make a cup.

There are 8oz in 1 cup - the oz is a portion of the cup not the other way round. If you don't have a measuring cup that has oz marked out use a small shot glass 2x for 2 oz.
