The way I see it God has been my only father. I have loved no one more. I think that so many truths are reavealed to me in so many ways and when I feel it is right to do so, I share them. However, I am nowhere near as knowledgeable as so many others when it comes to scripture. I have attempted to read the Bible but honestly, it's a little difficult to comprehend at times. Is it wrong of me to want or need someone else to help me with this? Why? Is that something that is also written in the Bible?

Thank you to those who answered respectfully. Obviously I already knew that YA was not the place to get my theology but couldn't resist asking anyway.

Your difficulty at understanding some parts of the Bible is common.
In Acts 8:30, Phillip goes to an Ethiopian who is reading the Bible and asks:
“Do you actually know what you are reading?”
The Ethiopian replies:
“Really, how could I ever do so, unless someone guided me?”
IT ALWAYS HELPS IF A MORE KNOWLEGEABLE ONE GUIDES YOU.
Find one.
God is not working through individuals. He provided a book ...the Bible.
Proverbs 2:4,5 mentions to what extent we should ardently search/study the pages of the Bible.

You should read the bible, it is God's word for all time. There are many truths in it that can help you even today. Anyone who tells you that you don't need to read God's word, then tells you what you should believe is someone you shouldn't listen to. It doesn't matter when it was written, God's word is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
It's okay to seek help from someone else, as long as it is help and not truth. The truth is in the Word.

I understand what you are talking about above.
Is it wrong to have someone else guide you to understand God's will better at present? Absolutely No
A word of caution though. Be careful who is your educator (in God's word), just because a person is older or more 'intelligent' than yourself, does not mean they are correct.
I have been there (believe me); I relate myself many times lately to the position Elihu (Book of Job),
There may even be times where a younger person has more spiritual truth on a matter than older folks.

We are supposed to have fellowship with other believers, so that we may help eachother in our Walk. There is nothing wrong with it. I for the longest time tried to read thru the bible, and got no where fast. I am involved in a womans small group now, and things really make sence to me now. Also attending church regularly and going over the lesson plans that my pastor has for us has helped too. Get an easier version too, I have the English Standard Version, its an easy read and I can compare it to my NKJ and it usually all comes together :)

Many bibles are indeed to understand because if the formal translations of them. It is defintely not wrong to want some help to gain a greater understanding. You will come to have a closer relationship with your father for it.

The best way to read it is to start at the beginning and read through to the end. Like any other book, the Bible has an introduction, a story and a conclusion. Don't worry about difficult passages. Read through them and by the time you get to the end, you will understand.

It is important that you read the Bible to gain a more personal understanding of God and your relationship to him. It's OK to ask for help. Actually, it's great to ask for help! Try the Quest Study Bible. I find that it's easy to understand because it has questions and answers in the margins. The questions are usually questions that I would ask myself if they weren't already there.

Listen Luckyduck. Give it time, and for God's sake NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I mean NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! allow anyone to tell you what a certain passage means. Just read some whenever you want. If you don't understand what it is saying, I put it to you, because of your belief in your Father, even if you don't understand the Bible, you are as close to the Kingdom as any "Biblethumper" is.
Stay strong in your love of God. You'll get the meaning of the Bible when He is ready for you to.
