I have the same type of hair. Make sure you have a good moisturizing/damage preventing conditioner. A good one to try is biologe, or Nexus humectress. Comb the conditioner through your hair after shampooing and leave on 3-5 minutes then rinse.
Then ....after towel drying apply biosilk -silk therapy on the hair and comb and put in a braid or knot after half way dry. Let dry completely then remove the braid/knot and you will have wonderful , full silky hair. Doing this at night works better as it allows more time for the hair to dry.
If you wnat curls instead of wavy...then skip the braid/knot (but follow other steps) and simply do not touch the hair!! the more you touch it , the frizzier it will become. I was taught this at a salon btw. Let it air dry , and only once its completely dry you can finger-comb it.
THe perm will just dry out your hair more , the same w/ permanently straightening it. You will look like a poodle if you perm it ....that's so 80's and out of fashion!!!yuck

Well, maybe you could relax it?
Here's the thing, yes your hair can get damaged IF you don't take proper care of it afterwards. Meaning, not giving it moisture, and all that.
If you take care of it after you relax it, it should be okay. Making sure you give it moisture and using the right shampoo and conditioner and all that.
Make sure you get it done be a CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL!!!!!! Very important!!!!!!!
Also, you'll need to get touch ups on your hair if you relax it, once every month. Shouldn't be a problem. Although, it does cost a lot of money to relax your hair. But once you relax your hair it'll be shiny and pin straight.
Hope this helps!

Clove oil honey massage. Stir well ½ cup of green olive oil with 1 cup of liquid honey. Shake vigorously. Keep the mixture to settle for a day or two. Massage into the scalp and comb it not touching the scalp. After massaging cover hair with plastic shower cap. Make it air tight to let the heat penetrate, leave like that for 20 to 30 minutes.
This will make your hair much softer and smoother....you will feel the difference.
Take care!

There's a "Smart Style" salon in Walmart, just get a relaxer and after you get your hair reaxed ask for scrunching, curling, or straightening whichever one you want your hair to look like.
It'll cost $90, but the result is just amazing. I thought my hair was untamable, but once I got this done BAM! My hair looked so naturally straight people were like "did you get a wig??" Mmhmm. their salon is that good.
Try it if you want (I HIGHLY suggest it! you just need to go back there every 4 months to get your roots touched up. Your hair will stay relaxed after you take a shower, but it won't stay straight or scrunched or curly (whatver you chose at the salon)

You should use a protective product before styling & also try a smoothing serum to make it more manageable. Hot rollers work great because they do a great job at forming your hair into a certain style without making it frizzy looking, & while the rollers are in your hair you can get ready & do your makeup, get dressed, etc.!

Definitely buy this product because it has saved my hair and others tremendously. It is called Kerastase Oleo-Relax Serum. It is expensive, but it does wonders for reviving the damaged hair and maintaining hair in a great condition. You use a couple of drops of this serum when your hair wet and a couple more when your hair is dry. Your hair will look and feel silky.

I think that u should get a perm. I use a perm and it has cut down the time I used to have to put into my hair.

Just get it professionally straightened at a beauty salon. That will be permanent until your hair grows more, then you can get it touched up.
