ok. me and my brother found this dog out side our house. hes skin and bones, and dosent have a collar. we cant keep him because we have other dogs,but we dont wanna call the pound because they will kill him if they dont claim him. we already gave him food but he dosent wanna drink water. What do we do???

we dont mean keeping him like keeping him like a pet. just untill the owner puts up a lost dog add.

If the dog is ill, in poor condition and you are not able to care for him, it would be best for him to be euthanized. If he's that thin and not interested in eating, he will die on his own...he'll just suffer more before doing so.
I'm assuming you cannot get him into a no kill shelter because there are 2 year+ waiting lists where I live. If you can get him into a shelter that will care for him, that's a better solution, of course.

Take him to the vet, and have him scanned for a microchip. Possibly he's slipped his collar and escaped, but his owner's information may be inbedded in his body - my dogs are all microchipped for this very reason.
In the meantime, if he's eating but not drinking, add some water to his food and that way you know he is getting what he needs. If he's not eating (not clear from your post), then try to give him something no dog can resist, like some chicken or rice.
I would keep him separated from your other pets until the vet has checked him out.
You may also want to post "found dog" posters with his picture to try and locate his owner around your neighbourhood, at the pet food store, at the local vets. (Get your parents permission and help to do this)

I would call animal control. in my area, they pick up the animal and take it to the pound for a period of time and if not claimed then it goes to the humane society, then they try to adopt it out. this doesnt guarantee that it wont be euthanized, but at this point, you dont have any other options. keep the stray away from your dogs, as you do not know where it has been! as far as water goes, keep a full dish available at all times until you decide what your going to do. you could feed him in a while, but mix the food with water so he gets some that way, but not too much, as he is probably starving and over feedingwill just cause him to throw it back up, you could call a vet, but I dont know who would take one on thanksgiving day!

take him to a vet! Sounds like he is really sick!(NOT drinking/eating)!And u don't know if he's contagious or even has Rabies!!!!Tell the Vet it's astray. If he's a nice dog most Vets will try to save the poor thing and find it a home. And if he's really sick they will do the pup a favor by euthenizing him...

TAKE IM TO THE VET!!!!!! I think the dog is sick. That is what happened to my dog , he did not drink. He is still there cause it has been only bout 2 days.

You should ask friends and family if they want it and if they dont bring it to a different animal shelter like dogs and cats forever.
