It takes a loooooong time. They dont generally exaggerate a whole lot on the websites. That is based on when it is a busy period, but I think it probably takes a little bit less. Good Luck with the immigration process.

You said,"On the website".

I would take web site info, as correct, they have the statistics. Others are guessing or just their info is old.

The government is so detached that they have no reason to lie, actually it can take little less or more, most likely more. Every day more people are applying to immigrate to Canada, it takes time to process them routinely. They must wait for every other authorities to answer your query.

If you are from India and lived in Bombay, for say 20 years, Bombay Police complies with their agreement to give a report on you, but every day they get may be 1000 or say such request only from Canada, then there are request from other countries also, this could take years to process.

Actual time taken by Canadian authorities is all most always nothing. But if you have lived in small town in India for all your life, the police know you well, they have only one report to handle, they take few minutes to answer and mail it back, you come out years ahead.

Canada by law can allow only few people to immigrate every year. This is done by application No. this is the number that they gave your application at the time you are applying. The time of 64 months is base on the allowable number of person and the deference between last immigrant and your application No.

So it is very good, under normal conditions.
