Hi, just wondering what's going on with my body. A month and a half ago I was weighing 230 lbs (105 kg) and ever since I decided to go on my morning walk for 2 hours non stop, and have cut mostly all carbs (bread, pasta, rice, beans, potatoes), and today I'm my weight is 200.2 lbs (91 kg). I eat fruit everyday and lots of veggies and lean meat, but all in very small portions. I also drink a lot of water and tea (no sugar or sweetener), and I've noticed that my clothes are getting lose (of course, with a 30 lbs weight loss!). I feel more energetic and motivated, but I still need to lose much more. I'm a 30 yr old woman, 5'4", and don't have any medical conditions. My goal weight is 125 lbs (59 kg). I've always been that weight but gained a lot in the past 5 yrs. Well, I've noticed for the past week or so I have not lost any weight, but gained 2 lbs. Is that normal and why? Can I expect to lose more in the next weeks? Any help and personal experiences appreciated. Thanx a lot!

Well thanx a lot, everybody!! Really helpful to have all this information and encouragement. Well I forgot to mention that I've never been pregnant and I spent 5 yrs living in the U.S. and all I ate was junk food (McDee's, BK, Hardee's) and lots of ice cream and chocolate. And of course I lived in an area I couldn't exercise, I had to drive all over the place because I lived too far from the city. I guess my body is also taking time to detox from all that junk I ate. But thanx again, guys, really appreciated all the comments!!

Try increasing your work out intensity, I work out 7 days a week at the gym and I constantly have to change the amount of weights I use and the intensity of my cardio to keep it effective. Try interval trainng. Do a brisk walk for a few minutes and then slow to a easy walk, also try adding a little jog in there. Keep switching throughout the entire duration of your walk to keep your heart rate up. Another effective strategy is start using ankle and wrist weights. They are not extremely heavy but add a little extra into your workout. You have to keep increasing the intensity of your workouts to keep them effective.

It could be many things causing your temporary (and I do mean temporary) weight gain. You are doing fantastic. I am happy with a weight loss of 10 pounds in one year. Of course, I am 52, diabetic with a systemic yeast condition (both of which are very resistant to weight loss plans).

I would say check out the symptoms list at www.hufa.org about overweight. It may explain why you have that much weight in the first place, and thus may give you some ideas how to continue to lose.

With women, hormones (including the hormone insulin) play a tremendous part in our weight fluctuations. If it is "that time of month" your body may bloat with water weight, no matter what diet you are on, and how much you exercise. If you keep up your diet and exercise, you may see a sharp drop after "that time of month" is over.

Keep up the great work.

Well Done you. You're doing fantastically well. What you're going through is quite normal. It sounds to me like you may not be eating enough carbs though it's hard to know. It could just be that you need a bit of support. Increase your water intake because that can often help and if there is a Weight Watchers meeting near you join, if not look at the website for your country. You will find loads of information and support there. And stick with it, the only thing that will stop you is giving up.

You're doing GR8! Walking is the best non-impact exersise...even though the scale says no, I'm possitive you are still losing calories but have gained muscle mass...keep up the good work!
p.s. You should not cut out all carbs because they are the main source of blood glucose, which is a major fuel for all of the body's cells and the only source of energy for the brain and red blood cells.

Instead of walking, alternate with a little jogging. Try a little more cardio, slow at first and work your way up. Good luck and congratulations for losing the weight you have!
