i am going to fly on it in acouple of weeks and just for the record looked on wickipedia search and found that in 2006 they had like 6 emegency landings !! nothing super serious but mostly it was smoke in the cabin and stuff like that but STILL

Yeah, I had a good experience with Northwest. It's WAY better than Delta. That's for sure.

If you are asking about airplane safety, all U.S. based airlines adhere to certain minimum standards established and monitored by the F.A.A. Also, all U.S.-based airlines record and report on-time performance (see link #1 below). The second link shows the rate of airline fatalities by airline since 1970.
If however, you are interested in frequent flyer benefits, Northwest WorldPerks is one of the better programs. First, the Northwest frequent flyer program is linked with those of Continental and Delta (amongst others) which means that the benefits you accrue can be used to take flights on all three major airlines. Secondly, Northwest has a liberal upgrade policy. If you achieve Elite status, you become eligible for complimentary upgrades on a space-available basis.

Northwest is not that bad. They are not the best, but they are o.k. I had my suitcase lost by them one time. Luckily, I got it back. Have not had any further problems with them. Actually, the last time I flew with Northwest, I was in first class and the service was very good.
All of the airlines are going to experience emergency landings. Northwest is still a safe airline to fly on.
