Someone mentioned something about a vitamin C deficiency. Can someone please explain that to me as I've never heard that. But on the other side I'd love to hear what is thought by those who dont believe in evolution on this subject.

Thanks

Someone said something about humans and apes being the only two creatures to have the same problem, thus prooving that we share a common ancestor. I was hoping someone could explain that, and whether they think it does proove the common ancestor thing or not.

I think the most important thing to do is to get rid of the word, 'belief', when it comes to evolution. It is a tactic used by creationists to marginalize evolution and it bring it to the same level as theology. It's very important to take out the word, 'belief', when it comes to scientific systems because we're not talking about belief.

Evolution is a fact, not a belief, not a hope, you don't see scientists standing around waving their arms yelling "I believe I believe and all who don't are going to hell," etc.
Evolution continues to this day with numerous mutations having been documented by science. Just a few days ago Yahoo featured a news article detailing the evolution of a couple of animals that has been observed within the past few decades.
The only way to know the truth is with an open mind.

It has long been known that humans and primates can't synthesis Vitamin C. Fairly recently, the gene responsible for Vitamin C synthesis has been found in humans and primates, however it is a pseudogene - it's broken. Further, the chimpanzee pseudogene is most similar to the human version, the orangutan pseudogene is next most similar, followed by the macaque, followed by the guinea-pig, all exactly as predicted by evolution.

It's one piece of evidence, among thousands, for evolution.

I have never heard of the Vitamin C thing. However, if you are looking for evidence that apes and humans have a common ancestor, have a look at the video.

The majority of the 92 elements normally listed as found in the Earth were at one time regarded as scientific curiosities. However, during the last half-century, chemical research has increased greatly, while new and improved analytical techniques have developed. Consequently, much new knowledge has been brought to light about the importance of very small concentrations of certain elements.

The earlier metallurgists found the value of adding a little carbon, cobalt or chromium to iron in making steels for various purposes. To this list aluminum, copper, magnesium, molybdenum, nickel, vanadium, wolfram and other elements have been added for their important effects in steels. Alloys of many more metals have been similarly produced.

The effects on living creatures of small amounts of certain elements alone or in compounds has long been known. Most of these, such as arsenic, antimony, lead and phosphorus, have been recognized chiefly as poisons. Through the ages the precious metals were thought to have beneficial effects, but this lacked confirmation.

The principal elements regarded as essential for plants and animals are comparatively few. Usually in compounds, they are calcium, carbon, chlorine, hydrogen, magnesium, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, potassium, and sulphur, with the addition of sodium for animal life. To these must now be added an increasing number of "trace elements" in very low concentration. The first to come to mind, obviously, is iodine, probably essential only to animal life. At present the trace elements regarded as needed by both animals and plants are copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum and zinc. Additions to the list are cobalt and iodine for animals, boron and silicon for most plants. Each group probably will receive more such elements soon.

The quantities of trace elements present in organisms, of course, vary. In man the total amounts to less than 0.005% of body weight and if iron is excluded, the total is under a fifth of that figure.

Well, I was taught to believe that our genetic structure (I may be saying this wrong - our cell structure? chromosomes?) is more similar to that of a pig than a chimpanzee.
I really don't think it proves anything for or against evolution in any case.
The evolutionis will say: "Shows we all descended from the same source". The creationist will say: "It shows the same One made us all".
We will not resolve the evolutionist argument based on the scientific data available to us - each one interprets that data according to his belief.

Yes, you can have vitamin deficiencies. If you eat a well balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables you'll be just fine.
Oranges are loaded with Vitamin C for example. So are lots of other fruits.
Evolution has absolutely nothing to do with it. Your personal eating habits are the culprit here if you become deficient in Vitamin C.
Evolution was invented by the scientific community because they refuse to believe in and acknowledge that everything was created by a supreme being, that being GOD himself. They are all lunatics. Most professors at your local colleges and universities fit well into this category.

basically a rapid reaction for now. there is not any one answer to the question of the inspiration of existence. As one solutions one specific question, yet another question arises. no one is confident via one answer. that's a capacity of objectivity, learn and time. in this subject count number there are a number of sub-matters. A concept is a hypothesis, conjecture, (a wager). A proposition that have yet to be shown. concept isn't any actuality. Darwin himself became into no longer an Atheist. In his writings he himself had doubts. just to deem Evolution it to be technological awareness is yet another subject count number. basically for rapid. we are able to all agree that there is plenty greater desirable than we are able to ensure, pay attention, scent, flavor, experience. that are the 5 senses. might you agree there is greater desirable than that? We have faith in air, yet we don't see it. We experience the impacts of it, precise. we don't see radio waves, or television alerts. There are cellular telephone alerts, too. they're there. we don't see microwaves. Used to be called scurvy - people need to eat foods that replace and replenish the vitamins and minerals that they lose over time. This was not a problem in the Garden of Eden because all food was perfect.
