Regular zoom lenses and point & shoot cameras generally start at 28mm. That's probably not wide enough. You could borrow something to try it out, but professional realtors need to go wider.
You could either surf to eBay and look for a 35mm film camera with something like a 20mm lens, or you could increase your budget and look for a digital SLR with something like a Sigma 10-20mm zoom, or a 12-24mm zoom. (On entry level Canon / Nikon digital SLR cameras you have to multiply those zoom numbers by 1.6 / 1.5)
Retail, a Nikon D50 + third party 12-24mm zoom + 1GB memory + cheap flash will cost around $1200. Prices in Europe are higher.

The camera has no impact on whether or not you get a wide shot, it is all in the lense, literally.

To get a wide angle shot, you will need something LIKE a fisheye lense.

You can also make your own fish eye by going to a home improvement store and buying the same lenses used for peep-holes in doors.

But again, it doesnt matter what camera you have for wide angels shots, you just need the correct lense.
