I am super-busy and I find it hard to hit the gym or go swimming. But I do enjoy a good walk. I usually walk to campus and choose to walk whenever I can. Is it good exercise? Can I lose weight by walking and dieting?

Walking is probably the most popular form of weight loss tactics. I lost 35 pounds by walking and altering my diet. I walked 60 minutes a day in the morning, increasing my distance in the same amount of time. After three months, I was [power] walking four miles in under 60 minutes. I cut sugars from my diet, drank more water, less soda's, and cut portionsduring meals. I also had small snacks between meals, healthy snacks. You can eat more throughout the day, reduce portions, and raise your metabolism. Walking helps raise your metabolism, too, which helps burn calories faster.

"Good exercise" is when your heart rate gets to a cardio-training level and keep it like that between 20-45 minutes. If that sounds Greek to you, ask a fitness instructor near you. I'm 21 yrs old, female, 52 kgs, and I get to my cardio-training heart rate when I walk at about 5.5 kilometres per hour at about 10-15 minutes. But anyway that varies from person to person and there's a specific way to calculate it, which I;m not very familiar with.

If you want your walks to be a "lose weight" opportunity, do the following:
-Get a paedometre and someone who's familiar with how it works. The paedometre will tell you whether your exercise was good or not, so all you need to do is to adjust accordingly
-Get enough sleep! don't lose sleep because it'll affect your metabolism
-Eat 5 times a day. Seriously. Have a healthy breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner BEFORE 7PM. Your meals and snacks must be high protein, high fibre, and low on processed carbohydrates (no "white" products like white rice, sugar, white bread, white flour, potatoes etc). Eat fresh fruits and vegetables in abundance, avoid bad oils, and consume a good amount of essential fatty acids (monounsaturated fats) like olive oil, deep sea fish (salmon, tuna), and skim milk. IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT EFFECTIVELY, DON'T STARVE.
-Do reduce the size of your meals. To avoid feeling unsatisfied with your smaller portion, take fibre supplement and half a glass of water after your meal because it'll do the filling for you. I recommend chewing Nutrilite Fruit & Veg Fibre, together with Nutrilite Acerola C to make it more palatable.

Walking is one of the most important exercises for all ages and both genders. Its recommended that you walk 3-5 times weekly for half an hour at least. Maybe it won't make you lose weight but if you lose weight by dieting it will keep it down.

Most assuredly! Walking is considered a very good exercise for burning calories. Walking briskly is good and has minimum impact on the joints.
