My father in law is visiting with us for 3 months. This morning my husband woke up and went to his fathers room. I walk pased the hall and he was laying with his father in his bed. Is the weird or WHAT??? I dont know what the norm is for a close family. I come from a dysfunctional background and no longer see my family. My husband is very close with his. Should I be concerned or freaked out? Please dont advise me to leave, this isnt an option for me. What should I say to him?

You should discuss your concerns in private with your husband. Many family's are raised with a "family bed" concept meaning that they can go to the parents bed for comfort or closeness anytime -perhaps he wanted to share the overflow of the intimacy you two had shared with his father because he was feeling so loved and felt it would benefit him to know his son was cared for and loved so well.

That is not weird, and there is no reason to be concerned, freaked out or leave...if you think something ain't right, confront him, he is your husband after all and i'm sure he could clear your doubts better than of us strangers. and when it comes to norms for a close family it cannot be generalized....i wouldn't think twice about laying down beside my father or ANY of my family members for that matter

Whether it's wierd or not would depend on how they were lying on the bed, and what they were doing. If they were both sleeping on their backs or lying facing each other talking, it's normal. Just 2 guys taking a nap or chatting together.

If they were hugging or something like that, I think it's wierd. Even if it's not sexual. It might be a father & baby boy relationship, but it's just not what grown men do.

If it bothers you, why don't you talk to your husband about it?

It sounds to me like he might not have been fully awake at the time. Perhaps, as a result, he was a tad disoriented and walked into his dad's room by mistake before falling back asleep. I really wouldn't worry. Chances are, he'll feel a bit strange himself when he wakes up!

Family dynamics are very different. Each family has a uniqe way of doing things. You are right leaving is too drastic. Talk to your hubby and let him know that this weirds you out. Let him know exactly how it makes you feel seeing him like that.

It's weird!! But I'm not sure how you'd bring up the subject without him getting defensive or insulted. As long as the keep their clothes on and nothing more happens maybe you should just leave it alone.

For some people it's normal and some people would think it's weird. But you should talk to him about how you feel. If it makes you uncomfortable than it's an issue regardless of whether or not it would be considered normal.

be happy that he can be close to his father, so your kids will be close to him..
