I have three cats and so I have gotten an automatic litterbox cleaner so they won't have to use a dirty one. However, the litter box will be clean and if theres anything left on the floor or they are not watched in the living room they will pee (only) on that item. Any ideas on why they feel the need to do this and a way i can make it stop? ( I have reprimanded, rewarded, and bought "No Go" , nothing seems to work) Im so frustrated!!!

They were doing this before the automatic litter box... so i don't think it has anything to do with the noise of the box becuase by the time it happens they are out of the room running around again.

Remember the litterbox rule: # of cats + 1. One automatic, clean litterbox is not sufficient for three cats and I think that is the source of your problem.

It sounds like they may not really like using the litter box, does it make a noise maybe that scares them? It might be less scary to go on whats out of the box. If they are scared of the box, nothing will make them want to use it, no treat, scolding whatever. Maybe as an alternative get a covered litter box and have both there and see what happens if they use the covered one then you'll know there's something about the automatic that is causing the to be fearful.

Is it possible that they just don't like the automatic unit? Or were they having the same issue before you installed it?

I think that the automatic litterbox scares them.

GOOD LUCK!
