Actually, Sasha is a shortened form of Alexander or Alexandra in most slavic countries - Russia, Former Yugoslavia etc. The spelling varies from country to country, but the pronuciation is the same.

Sasha is a Russian name, however, Sasha Sokol is an extremely popular and successful Mexican vocalist who was born in Mexico City.
BTW, She appeared in the Spanish language version of "Grease" entitled "Vasolina". She went on to much greater things.
