By the way dentist said that is all i needed at the time.

I don't know if the teeth can deterioate that much is 1 year.
I think he is full of it.

Well, we can't say for sure about the crowns wthout seeing your xrays, or the actual condition of the teeth. The cleaning and xrays are normal yearly atleast. however not usually a full mouth series, just bitewings. Perhaps there was a condition he spotted, periodontal? That would be a reason to take many PA xrays. Not much else I can say without seeing the xrays in regards to the crowns. What were his reasons for the crowns??

He was probably trying to be nice and spare you some sticker shock when he first saw you.

I'm sometimes amazed at how much teeth can get shot to hell in short periods of time.... Do you drink a lot of soda or not brush or floss much? t hat would do it.

It's unlikely you'd go from two crowns to six, but you codl have been two crowns and four fillings and NOW six crowns.

"Need"ing a crown is subjective from dentist to dentist. Explain yoru financial situation and say you can only afford one or two or three or whatever now. Then see which NEED need to be done...Usually, a few of them can wait a year or so 'til the insurance re-ups or the person can save a little mroe money.

If you really think he's full of it, go visit another dentist.
I charge $80 for a "second opinion" and usually spend a good solid 45 min with the patient explaining things in depth.

I 'm always amazed at how many folks are told "You need a crown. (or six). See ya next time" w/o having it explained WHY you need a crown. I liek to draw a lot of pictures, too.

If you don't find someone who will spend the time to explain why you should pay a lot of hard-earned cash for their services, find someone who will.

I'm in New Hampshire, if you're interested, and I haven't had a vacation (outside of some camping trips) since 2001. :)

Michael, Crowns are the dentist's way of saying "Im going on vacation in a month and need some extra spending money." seriouly though if you need 4 crowns you either should get it done or get them pulled if they are to the point of needing root canal. You dont give an age but ill bet your fairly young. When your dentist said this is all you needed at the time he was probably being truthful. Xrays are common every couple of years or so just to make sure as you cannot see micro cracks or loose fillings all that easily. Teeth deteriorate more rapidly as we age due to all kinds of things. Its almost 2007 probably time for a few more crowns or get em ripped. Almost as expensive nowadays. Good dental health to you.

depends on the condition of your teeth and how well you care for them. there is no way for us to tell without seeing your xrays, but if you really dont trust him then see someone else.

your teeth could have been damaged last year, but not enough to need work. however, they probably deteriorated and need the work now.
