I don't want to give you any false hope. Fact is, some people have turbocharged metabolisms that burn up all calories, and no amount of eating or exercise will do any good. You may be one of these. I am. When I was your age I was 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighed 127. That's disgusting. But most people, even those with supermetabolisms, tend to gain a pound a year as adults, so the best you may have to look forward to is looking more normal when you're middle aged. I'm up close to 160 and look better, but there was nothing I could do to hasten that. Eating too much is LITERALLY a waste!

Have you seen a Dr? Is he concerned? Maybe it is just you thinking you are too thin. Maybe you have a medical condition. Just because you are trying to gain weight, you have to eat a balanced diet, not just junk like potatoes and ice cream. A multi-vitamin is a good idea.

Oh, do gain weight but don't gain fat! Gain muscle! Here's how:

-Eat 6 times a day: breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and snack before bed
*The key is PROTEIN, FIBRE, and VITAMIN B. Vitamin B converts calories into energy, which perks up your metabolism and helps you gain muscle. Protein is what your muscle is made of. Fibre helps you digest well and get rid of unnecessary substances/toxins from your body. Fibre is also filling so you won't have to eat so much to get the necessary energy.
*To gain weight healthily eat a lot of egg (whites, but cut down on egg yolk), lean meat, white meat, fish, legumes, soy products (e.g. tofu), dairy (skim! you need the protein, not the fat!), whole wheat bread, wholegrain pasta, brown rice, and monounsaturated oils like olive oil and avocado. Eat fruits and vegetables in abundance. Have some 2000 calories a day (consult your nutritionist), but make sure most of it comes from protein and monounsaturated fats, limit carbohydrates and bad fat. AVOID POTATOES, CORN, SUGAR, AND "WHITE" PRODUCTS--they may help you gain weight but they're bad in the long run.
*For snacks, eat yoghurt and fruit, or vegetables and dip.

-Drink 4 litres of water a day. Juice, coffee, tea, alcohol, soda, and any kind of "coloured, flavoured water" doesn't count. PURE WATER! And spread out its consumption, i.e. drink 1 glass of water every hour. This'll give you a lot of energy because it washes out impurities from your body and helps your organs function better.

-Exercise! Train your muscles. Do 20-45 mins aerobic/cardiac training and do some muscle training like lifting weights, sit ups, and push ups. Consult a fitness coach for more information on what kind of exercise will help you gain weight by optimising your muscles.

-Sleep! Try to have a good night's sleep every night. For best results get into bed at 9PM and wake up early. This is the time when your hormones are at work to repair your body effectively.

multi-vitamins are never a bad idea. however, sometimes people of your age don't grow into their "man body" until later. i knew a guy in high school that was short and skinny the entire time. i saw him some years later and he is about 6 inches taller and bigger.
