250G(9OZ) BE-RO PLAIN FLOUR
75G(3OZ)CASTER SUGAR
175G(6OZ) BUTTER

1 HEAT OVEN TO 160C OR 325 FGAS 3
2 MIX FLOUR AND SUGAR IN A BOWL,RUB IN BUTTER
3 KNEED WELL TO FORM A SMOOTH PASTE
4 DIVIDE INTO TWO EQUAL PARTS AND FLATTEN INTO 2X18cm 97inch) THICK
5 MARK INTO 8 PORTIONS, DECORATE EDGES AND PRICK WITH A FORK.PLACE ON A BAKING TRAY AND BAKE FOR 30 MINS UNTILL PALE AND GOLDEN

When I make shortbread I sprinkle castor sugar lightly over the top while hot . Also I prefer to use some baking parchment paper on the tray before putting into oven and mark outportions while hot. Another way you can try is use icing sugar instead of castor sugar Hope this helps .

bero highlanders.
100g (4oz) butter
50g (2 oz) caster sugar
100g (4 oz) plain flour
50g (2 oz) ground rice
demerara sugar

cream butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy

add flour and ground rice and mix well

knead well and bring the mixture together

roll into thick sausage and roll in deme sugar

cut into 15 slices

bake on tray 190 c (375 f) gas mark 5 for 15 Min's until golden brown
