once again do not pay attention to the wannabe's. heres the actual answer, depending on the make and model of tv it could be several things. the collapse on the sides can be caused buy a Main B+ regulator (130-170VDC) could be failing causing horizontal shrinkage. One other problem is a faulty capacitor in the Horizontal sweep circuit or in the pincushion correction circuit. It might also be bad solder connections on the Horizontal drive transformer (happens alot on Sonys). Without the make and model of your TV thats is as specific as I can be.

Sounds like the tubes are packing in. Mine did this and would only come back to normal if I hit the tv...honest!! But it eventually died and I had to get a new one. Do you have it still on guarantee - take it back or call out an engineer.

a million If he can arise with the money for a $a million,000 television then he can arise with the money for to purchase a table to place it on. #2 If he's not clever sufficient to recognize the cloth cabinet sucks and his $a million,000 television is in hazard then he merits to be out that money. #3 forget who replaces the cloth cabinet. except it rather is an vintage nicely worth some money it rather isn't any longer even nicely worth discussing. in case you cared approximately it you will not have permit him use it in the 1st place.

it could be a component in the horizontal field part of the circuit is gone. you'd need the service manual to find what components are part of that field and test them. those OK then it is the tube, which will be pricey to repair, so in that case, I'd suggest get a new TV.

Your tubes are goin... you can get these repaired but sounds like you need to upgrade your TV anyhow... have you not seen, even narrowly, the adverts with Digit Al on it? Upgrade to Digital TV before 2008!!

The vaccuum inside the cathode ray tube is increasing in strength, eventually it will suck up everything and you will be left with just a couple of knobs.
