Thank you. Never let a presenter know the gift is unwanted or unappreciated. If you really don't want it return it to the place of purchase later but never tell the giver that you did it will hurt their feelings.

I pretend to like it because if it was meant as a gift at least I hope the persons intentions were good.

A simple Thank You and a smile.
My husband's mother recieved a gift last year from her husband and she was quite obvious that she didn't like it. "What am I supposed to do with this?" "I just hope I'm not allergic." Stuff like that. I was so embarrassed for him because he DID try.
Think about how you'd feel if you bought a gift for someone that they didn't like, how would you like them to recieve it?

A graceful, warm Thank You is, of course, best. Remember, above all else,it's the thought that counts. Perhaps they don't know what to get for you but wish to get something for you to indiate their feeling of appreciation (not meant as thanks) so they choose what they believe is something you need or would use. Good Luck!

Thank them and hug them if the two of you are close. You could also say, "It's just what I wanted!". Most importantly, act like you mean it!
Remember, it's the thought that counts.

The kind thing to do is say thank you, and leave it at that.
