I learned 1 potato per person and 1 extra.
If they are small (egg sized) I'd make it about 1 per person and 10 more (for the 20 people group)
It's better to have left overs then not enough.

I never go by pounds... I simply grab a handful of potatoes for each person. If they are big potatoes then one fits in the hand so count that for one person. If they are tiny, put a bunch in your hand and count that for one person.
At the end of counting throw in a few extra for good measure. We always have people who prefer a secnd scoop of tators rather than a piece of pie.

2 pounds for 6 servings - so I would say do about 9 to 10 pounds of potatoes so those that want second servings can get them.

don't know pounds but we generally figure 1 potato per person and 1 for the pot - worked for me!

I'd go for the 10 pound bag. If there are even leftovers, you can make potato pancakes, soups, shepherd's pie, tons of stuff. But like I said...IF there are even leftovers...everyone loves taters!

14 people with a 5lb bag will give you one servicing each;
so use 7 or 8 lbs. Or just get a 10lbs bag and everyone can have seconds :)

I'd go with about 150g of raw weight potato per person - so you're looking at 3kg for 20 people. I guess that's about 6lb in old money!
That's a European size portion ;-)

10 pounds, that's half a pound per person, especially since there are so many other side dishes to choose from today!!
