I prefer margarine - never liked butter anyway. But if I did it would definitely be for toast....

I never, ever use butter or margarine to make sandwiches. What's the point? If I going to have a ham sandwich I want a ham sandwich, not a ham & butter sandwich. The butter just affects the taste.
I mainly use margarine on toast, unless I intend to put something else on the toast - jam, or Marmite or Roule for example.

Butter is better than hydrogenated fats such as margarine. Fats that are in natural sources such as meat and butter are easily absorbed by the body. Hydrogenated fats are not natural so the cells in the body are coated with a cellophane like coating that restricts nutrient and oxygen to the cells. Since the cells don't know how to deal with hydrogenated fats properly, they stay in the body longer making people fat and promote free radicals.

Butter Schmutter yuk yuk yuk. Why do some humans insist on wiping yellow grease on a perfectly good bit of bread? Bizarre.

i dont think that sad people prefer any type of bread sealing agent over another, nor do i think that the use of butter should be confined to bread, so i cannot answer your question, in fact i am going to sit quietly for a while whilst my head rights itself

It's for bread - not losers. But I'd use margarine, cos it won't make holes in your bread, like butter can.

Absolutely not, butter's BRILL!
It's particularly good on;
spuds(barr roasties and chips),
crackers,
ryvita,
digestive biscuits,
pretty much all steamed veg,
toast,
all types of sandwiches(bacon/egg/sausage ones are a bone of contention in our house),
baked beans(while cooking),
great big lumps of fresh bread..
..and anything else that takes your fancy.
Hubby was a marg. man but we soon converted him-now he's a positive butter snob!

Butter is for bread and lots of other yummy things too. However, we need to be careful to use it up quickly, as "new research" has shown it goes rancid if kept for a long time, and we might "not" realise it has gone rancid, and when it is rancid it is bad for us. very bad.
